Garlic Asiago Baked Spiralized Fries



I served these as a side dish to yesterday's Butternut Black Bean Burgers. I could sing praises about my vegetable spiralizer all day long, but you've heard it all before. How cool is it that the spiralizer can also make french fries? Curly fries in a snap.

Recipe from Inspiralized.

Ingredients:
-1 medium sweet potato, Blade B
-1 medium Idaho potato, Blade B
-2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
-1 tablespoon garlic powder
-1/3 cup grated asiago cheese
-fine sea salt and ground pepper

Make sure to trim the curly fries with kitchen scissors, otherwise they'll be too long to eat and won't cook through. 

Place the potato noodles in a mixing bowl and drizzle over the olive oil, toss in the garlic powder, asiago cheese and season with salt and pepper, generously. Toss to coat thoroughly.

Spread the potatoes out on a baking tray lined with nonstick parchment paper, trying not to overlap the potatoes. You'll probably need to use two baking trays. Add a little more asiago cheese to the top.

Bake at 450 for 20-30 minutes -- make sure to flip the fries every 10-15 minutes or even every 5 minutes if the fries start to get a little singed, but remain uncooked.




I don't think baking fries in the oven quite does them justice like frying them does, but these we good. They were a nice side dish to the burger and the garlic and asiago paired nicely together. Ours were cooked through, but it would have been even better if they had been crispier.
