Dijon, Havarti, and Pear Grilled Cheese

Happy National Grilled Cheese month! I'm doing things a little differently this year, I'm going to do five posts a week and take a little time off on the weekends. Not all of the posts this year are original, I found some really awesome recipes from other bloggers and decided to try them in my kitchen. As always, I'm very excited for this month and the recipes were putting out.

This first recipe comes from Will Cook for Smiles. I liked the idea of the simplicity of the ingredients coming together to make a really great grilled cheese sandwich.

Ingredients:
-2 slices Sourdough bread
-4-5 oz creamy Havarti cheese
-½ large pear (sweeter type)
-1 teaspoon honey
-1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
-Salt

Cut pear into thin slices and then preheat a cooking pan over medium-high heat and sear pears for just a couple of minutes. Take out of the pan and lower heat to medium.
Spread some Dijon mustard on each slice of bread. Divide cheese evenly among the two slices of bread and add just a touch of salt. Add pear slices to one of the bread slices and drizzle the honey over the pear.

Place both slices of bread in the pan and cook, over medium heat, until cheese starts to melt. Close sandwich and cook on both sides until bread is golden and cheese is completely melted.

I loved the simplicity of this recipe, the havarti is a light cheese and was complemented by the other flavors. The pear added a nice crunch to the grilled cheese, and the dijon and honey helped to bring out the best flavors in the pear.
